DESCRIPTION (by J.J. Vermeulen)
Roots mainly sprouting below the pseudobulbs. Rhizom 2-3 mm in diameter, sections between pseudobulbs 2.5-4 cm long, bract fibres moderately persistent. Pseudobulbs distant, 1.2-2.2 x 0.6-0.9 cm, broadly ovoid. Leaves: petiole 0.7-1 cm long; blade 7-10 x 2-3 cm, index (l/w) 2.3-5, elliptic to ovate, acute. Inflorescence patent, c. 4 cm long, 1-flowered; peduncle c. 1 cm long; nonfloriferous bracts c. 3, the longest c. 13 mm long; floral bracts c. 16 mm long, ovate, acute. Flowers resupinate, opening wide, sepals and petals greenish yellow with numerous, irregulary placed, rather fine dark red spots, lip purplish red, verrucae blackish purple, column greenish, wings pinkish purple, anthercap yellow. Pedicel-with-ovary c. 15 mm long, basal node about coinciding with the attachment of the floral bract; all ovary ribs with the crests sharply angular, the upper straight, the others with a single downward fold close to the flower. Dorsal Sepal c. 21 x 11 mm, index c. 1.9, recurved to spreading, elliptic-ovate, acute, margins entire, base rather narrowly attached, rather thick; adaxially, finely pustulate, abaxially glabrous. Lateral sepal c. 21 x 13 mm, index c. 1.6, free, oblique, ovate, base broadly attached, otherwise as the dorsal sepal. Petals c. 19 x 11 mm, index c. 1.7, recurved to spreading, elliptic, acute, margins entire but slightly erose distally, base rather narrowly attached, rather thick, adaxially very finely pustulate, abaxially glabrous. Lip recurved, particulary near the tip, ovate, c. 9 x 7 mm, index c. 1.3 (unflattened), obtuse, margins distinctly erose distally, very thick; adaxially concave proximally and convex distally, with 2 distinct, narrow and rather high ridges with an erose crest starting at some distance from the base and close to the margins, then somewhat converging and running up to c. 2/3 -3/4 of the length of the lip, adaxial surfaces densely verrucate distally; abaxially with a retuse median ridge up to ¾ of the length of the lip, surface finely papillose in the central part. Column c. 4 mm long, stigma inside without keels, at its base with two inconspicucous swellings; foot with a tooth just above the ligament; stelidia c. 0.4 mm long, deltoid, obtuse, lower margin with a distinct, downwards pointing, triangular, obtuse tooth near the tip of the column; anther-cap abaxially very finley papillose, almost without a crest, front margin somewhat drawn out, deeply erose; pollinia 4, the inner alomst as long as the outer, obovoid, the outer drop-shaped, stipes absent.
